Marvel AVengers STATION Thor Ragnarok

What You Need To Know Before Seeing Thor: Ragnarok

The next Marvel movie, Thor: Ragnarok, hits theaters in just under 3 weeks! To celebrate the release of this new movie, we’ve prepared 5 fun “Super”(hero) facts you need to know about the movie before seeing it.

  1. Thor: Ragnarok will be Thor’s 3rd movie, and will be the 12th movie featuring one of Marvel’s Avengers. After Thor: Ragnarok, the next Marvel movies include Black Panther (Feb 9, 2018), Avengers: Infinity War, (Apr 25, 2018), Ant-Man and the Wasp (July 6, 2018).
  2. “Ragnarok” translates to “The Doom of the Gods” in Norse Mythology, which is most likely related to the villain, the Goddess of Death.
  3. Even though this is technically a Thor movie, we will see a lot of Bruce Banner as well! The Incredible Hulk will go head to head with Thor and we will find out which is more powerful: Thor’s hammer or the Hulk’s strength!
  4. In the trailer (if you haven’t seen it, head here!), Thor exclaims “YES!” when he sees he will be competing against the Hulk in a gladiator-style fight. He follows up by saying “We know each other. He’s a friend from work”. While this seems quite humorous as Thor and the Hulk worked side by side saving Earth in two other Avengers movies, the origin of this line has a sweeter story. The line was actually written by a Make-A-Wish kid who was visiting the set during filming. Make-A-Wish is a charity organization that gives kids who are fighting terminal illnesses and diseases, such as cancer, once-in-a-lifetime experiences, like visiting the set of their favorite films. This kid told Chris Hemsworth, who plays Thor, that he should say the Hulk was a “friend from work”, and the rest of it is history!
  5. You do not need to go all the way to Asgard to learn about the Incredible Hulk, Thor, or his brother, Loki. At Treasure Island Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, you can visit Marvel Avenger’s STATION for an interactive exhibit where you can learn all about your favorite Marvel Avengers. You can see if you are worthy to pick up Thor’s hammer, learn more about how gamma radiation changes Bruce Banner into the Hulk, and even see how your strength compares to Captain America’s.
